CONSERVATIVE PHYSICIAN, BUSINESS OWNER MARK NEWTON QUALIFIES TO RUN IN STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 123

Local physician, ER Medical Director, and business owner Dr. Mark Newton qualified at the State Capitol today to run for the Georgia General Assembly as a Republican in House District 123. Retiring legislator Rep. Barbara Sims now holds the seat.
“As a doctor, business owner, veteran, husband, and proud father of four, I am eager to work for this District to identify challenges andproblems in government, prescribe solutions, and deliver tangible outcomes for the people of District 123.
“From improving healthcare policy to keeping education local, empowering job creators through tax reform, and keeping government small and transparent, I’m ready to tackle Georgia’s pressing problems just like I do in the at home, in the business world, and in the ER.
“I look forward to working diligently in the weeks and months ahead to share my record of effectiveness and my vision for our community, region, and state with voters in District 123. Together, we can secure a better, more prosperous future for Richmond and Columbia Counties. I humbly ask for your vote on May 24, 2016.”
For over fifteen years, Dr. Newton has served as the Chairman and Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta. He leads a team of 24 physicians and providers, plus over 80 nurses, providing care for over 60,000 patients per year. He is also the Founder and CEO of MedNow Urgent Care, which has three locations in the CSRA. Dr. Newton is married to his college sweetheart, Joni. The couple has four children.
